Suicide War
Spray Paint on Canvas
For my art piece I chose to convey how the U.S. nearly destroyed themselves while attempting to destroy communism during the Vietnam War. I illustrated a silhouette of a person holding a gun up to there head and the words “Vietnam War” are written on the gun. The silhouette is filled in with an american flag. This all represents the U.S. putting the gun to their own head as they destroyed themselves and many others trying to prevent the spread of communism in Vietnam. Many people lost their lives and this caused uproar in the States which caused the soldiers that went through traumatic experiences to be looked down on and mistreated by the U.S. citizens when they arrived back home. It was estimated that around 58,000 soldiers were killed and 153,303 were wounded in the Vietnam War, which ended after the U.S. got “tired” of fighting. So many lives lost for nothing. Right when the U.S. went into Vietnam we slowly raised the gun to our head and as the war progressed we pulled the trigger taking everything down with us.
