In the cookies unit I learned a lot more about graphing and solving simple and advanced problems related to algebra. Also, it taught me more about graphing constraints which is something that I have never done in math before. During this whole year I have grown in many different things. For example, when we did our POWS in math I learned how to solve problems in different ways and get different results. I cant wait till the next semester so I can grow even more in all my subjects including algebra.

POW 5
Process- This problem seemed very confusing at first but as soon as I started it I began to understand it a lot more. First, I made a chart. On one side of the chart it had 80-91 going up and down. On the other side it showed different combinations of hay bales. To find the correct combination I started with bale 1 and bale 2 and both weighed 40 lbs because 40+40=80. After I started trying new combinations with bale 1 and bale 2 weighing 40 lbs I soon realized that it didn't work with other bales. After this I chose two weight for bale 1 and bale 2 that weighed a total of 80 lbs while bale 2 and bale 3 weighed a total of 85 lbs. This seemed to work because I found the correct combinations and that added up to the correct weights.
Solution- When I first started I used whole numbers but I ended up using decimals and got the correct answer. The chart below shows how I figured this problem out.
80 lbs= B1(38.5)+b2(41.5)
82 lbs= B1(38.5)+b3(43.5)
83 lbs= b1(38.5)+b4(44.5)
84 lbs= b1(38.5)+b5(45.5)
85 lbs= b2(41.5)+b3(43.5)
86 lbs= b2(41.5)+b4(44.5)
87 lbs= b2(41.5)+b5(45.5)
88 lbs= b3(43.5)+b4(44.5)
90 lbs= b3(43.5)+b5(45.5)
91 lbs= b4(44.5)+b5(45.5)
Extension- An extension is instead of having 5 bales there are 10 bales and 20 different total weights.
Evaluation- This pow was definitely the most complex and hardest pow yet. I learned a lot and how to think deeply. Also, it taught me how to take complex problems and solve them in a simple way.
