Personal Connections and Adult World Connections:
1. Which project did you have the most personal connection with this year? Why?
The documentary project connected to me the most because I really enjoy filming and producing videos. Also, I learned a lot new skills from Roxy that I could possibly use in the future.
2. What have you learned (skill, lesson, or knowledge) this year that will be most helpful for you in the future?
During the Shakespeare project we began memorizing lines for our character throughout the project and it really taught me how to use my memory skills for school. I can use this for college when I'm studying.
3. What project or projects have you done this year that have inspired you to want to learn more? Explain
The socialization project inspired me to learn more because it taught me things about myself and society which gave me a whole new perspective on the world.
4. How has your attitude toward learning changed this year?
Coming from a school where the students aren't very close with the teachers Animas has been a positive change. Now that I'm at a school where I have very close relationship with my teachers and thats makes learning a lot more enjoyable.
5. What connections have you made this year between what you have learned in your classes and your own personal experiences outside of school?
During this year I learned a lot about advocacy which can really help me in the real world when I'm looking for a summer job I advocate for myself to get myself out there..
6. How have your learning and experiences at AHS this year changed the way you see the world?
The socialization project really gave me a different perspective on the world because it taught about how much we are affected by society and social classes in our daily lives.
7. What work from this year would you like to look back on and remember when you are a graduating senior?
I would want to look back on the documentary project because I really enjoyed doing it and I learned a lot from doing it.
You as a Student and a Learner (Your Work and Your Work Habits):
1. What is the most important change that you have made as a learner this year?
I have changed as a learning by becoming more outgoing and I have learned to advocate for myself when I need it. For example, during the shakespeare project I was very diligent with memorizing my lines while working on my essay and make it the best that I could do.
2. How have you taken an active role in your education this year?
I have taken an active role in my education by trying to be more diligent with my work and advocate for myself.
3. What piece of work that you’ve done this year are you proudest of? Why?
I'm most proud of the documentary project because my partner and I worked really hard on it and it turned out just how we planned it.
4. If you could go back and refine one piece of work this year, what piece of work would you refine and how would you refine it?
If I could refine any piece of work it would be the wave project we did in science. I would refine it because I know that we could've done better on the write up lab but we decided to just leave it as it is.
5. If you were the teacher, what comments would your teacher make about your work habits?
Im not the fastest worker but when I put my mind to it then focus very hard on what I'm working and will finish it a lot quicker.
6. What might you want next year’s teacher to know about your work habits?
I would want them to know that I can take in a lot of information but I'm not the fastest worker. Also, if i'm given enough time then I can work very well and create beautiful work
7. What is the most difficult thing you have done this year? Why was it difficult, and how did you deal with that difficulty?
The most difficult thing I have done this year was the Shakespeare project because we had to produce a play and become our character while writing a complex essay about Shakespeare's writing. It was hard but it really helped become a better writer.
8. How has group collaboration helped you as a student?
My smart goal for the second semester was to improve my collaboration skills when working in a large group and this helped me grow as a student and as a collaborator. I learned to communicate more with my fellow partners as well as be a lot more open minded.

1. What would you say to an incoming 9th grader about how to succeed in project based learning?
If you put your mind to it and give yourself time to work on it then you will create something amazing while learning a lot doing it. Also, if you talk to your teacher and ask for feedback then you will have a better relationship with them and learn from them.
2. How have any of the habits of heart and mind helped you be successful as a student or person?
Habits of heart and mind really helped me push through this year because it was good it reminds about what I need to do to accomplish my goal. For example, during the shakespeare project it I
3. How has a relationship with a faculty member helped you be more successful in school this year?
One thing that I love about Animas is the close relationship the students have with the teachers. For me it made learning a lot more enjoyable and I could talk to my teachers very easily when I need help. This made me a better advocator and a better learner.
4. How has the work in Advisory helped you grow or change as a student, as a friend, and as a citizen?
I really enjoyed my advisory this year because I have a very close relationship with my advisor (Hannah Starbuck) and my fellow advisees. Since I have a close relationship with my advisor it makes it very easy to ask for help when I'm in a situation or if I just want to talk to her. For example, during the final science exhibition no one came to mine so I never presented to anyone. I decided to go to Hannah's room and present it to her so I didn't feel like the exhibition was a waste.
5. Project based learning is a different model than traditional models of education. Explain how Project based learning has influenced your learning and your production of work.
At miller we had very few projects like the ones we have a Animas. We usually just did work sheets or had hour long lectures. Here at Animas the projects are very engaging and it makes school a lot more fun. For example, the documentary project was extremely fun for me because we engaged ourselves in film rather than just learning about it a classroom without actually filming anything.
